America was founded by Christopher Columbus. When Columbus found America, they called it the "New World". There were Indians already living in America. The Indians didn't like the Pilgrims destroying their land. Eventually the Indians and the Pilgrims had the first Thanksgiving.
George Washington was the first president. He was a comander in the British Army. He changed sides to America. Betsy Ross sewed the flag with thirteen stripes and thirteen stars.Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence.
